Palazzo Bellomo Museum reopens, it is a renovate and innovative museum. Now the central part will be the room which contains Antonello da Messina’s Annunciation and not Caravaggio’s canvas, as it was originally thought in the project. As a matter of fact this project was modified and then it was decided to place Caravaggio’s painting on the high altar of the Basilica della Borgata, the place it was created for. The painting is now in Santa Lucia alla Badia Church, in Piazza Duomo, waiting for the end of the restoring works in Basilica della Borgata, expected for December. Bellomo Museum boasts various collections coming from churches and private collections of great artistic importance. Bellomo’s “jewells” are not exhibited according to their typology, they are exhibited following a chronological principle in order to respect their origins. Antonello Da Messina’s painting will become the true treasure of the new course of the museum which shows unique works of art rich in artistic and cultural value.
